What is a certificate of insurance?

A certifcate of insurance is a document that lists your insurance companies for your various liability policies along with your limits of coverage on those policies.  This document proves that you have coverage in force during a specific time frame.  You use this to show your clients that you are well protected or to prove to a general contractor that you have insurance in place so that the general contractor doesn't have to deduct an insurance charge from your pay in order to cover their insurance costs.
